Making of a Bestseller

How to Write a Bestseller Book - Supportive Guru

#Books and scrolls were originally hand written or copied by hand. And then came the printing press which revolutionized the way books were ‘copied’. It became possible to print many copies of a book in less time and at a significantly lower cost.

And printing press also brought the biggest change in the #storytelling process – from its first form, which was the oral tradition, to today, where it has taken different forms such as books, film, theatre, web series, photo stories. And it’s a dream for every author to be a #bestseller.

Everyone – #authors#publishers, agents, publicists – loves bestsellers. For centuries the concept of the bestseller has captivated them. What makes a book a bestseller? The book sale required to achieve bestseller tag is virtually indefinable. Over the years, the term bestseller has carried with it many meanings.

Initially, it meant simply a book that sold better than most other books – primarily works of fiction but over time it began to include more works of nonfiction, including the growing genre of self-help. But the necessary sales number is relative to the performance of other books competing in the market the same week. And the bestseller lists only reflect the velocity of sales—not the overall success of a book.

Besides a great idea and content, bestsellers are packaged to sell. The product mix in publishing is a complex one. Right from the title, the design, the cover all are optimized to help the narrative spread. It’s important that the readers get to experience the book. For an author the goal is not just people buying their books but something they would like to share.
